How does Clutch work?

Members use the Clutch app to request their next vehicle, including when and where they would like the next vehicle. A Clutch concierge will deliver the fresh vehicle, transfer everything over to your new car, and ensure you’re all set to go. Flip into new cars as often as you would like. Our goal is to ensure you have the perfect car for any occasion.

What is included in a Clutch subscription?

Every Clutch subscription includes rights to a vehicle, insurance and unlimited flips between vehicles.  There are no mileage limits.

The Clutch concierge team delivers hand detailed vehicles to wherever you request.  We take care of all maintenance and repairs so you can focus on driving.

What vehicles are included with Clutch?

Clutch offers a variety of vehicles including luxury sedans, hybrids and plug-ins, SUVs, trucks, off-road vehicles, performance cars and even vintage vehicles.

How does Clutch pick the perfect car for me?

Think of Clutch as your personal concierge service.  Tell us about your needs and we'll match them with the perfect vehicle.  More seats?  Extra luggage room?  Special date night?  We've got you covered.

We listen and learn.  And don't worry, if we ever miss the mark we will bring you a new car right away.  We focus on the details so you can focus on enjoying the journey.

How does insurance work?

Insurance is included with all Clutch subscriptions.  All approved drivers are covered by the Clutch insurance policy.  Policy highlights:

  • $0 deductible
  • $1,000,000 liability coverage (combined single limit)
  • $300,000 uninsured motorist (combined)
  • $2,000 medical payments to offset any out of pocket or deductible costs

How long can I keep a vehicle?

As long as you want! 

There are no restrictions on how long or how short your flips can be.  Occasionally, when a vehicle has been with a member for many weeks, we might need to ask for it back so that we can do routine tasks like preventive maintenance. However, at worst we’ll flip you into a fresh vehicle that is just like the one you have.

In practice, most members flip several times a month and enjoy doing so!

How new are the vehicles?

The majority of our vehicles are the current or prior model year.  Each vehicle is detailed before and after it ever goes to a member. Many of our members tell us that every vehicle feels like new!

Signing Up

How do I join Clutch?

Download our app here and hit “Sign up”. Follow the instructions to create an account. You will need to provide a credit card, select a plan and provide a picture of your driver’s license. We will verify your information and check your driving history. We may need to speak with you during that process. In most cases, we can approve an application within one business day. Then we will contact you to get you started and schedule your first flip!

Is Clutch in my area?

Today, Clutch is live in Atlanta, GA. If you’re outside of Atlanta, sign up for news and updates and we will let you know when we arrive in your city.


Check if an address falls within our service area with this Google Maps lookup tool. (Best used in your browser)! Within Atlanta, Clutch services within the I-285 perimeter as well as a 9-mile radius from our Buckhead operational center. 


If you live outside the service area, we can help you find a convenient place to flip within the service area. However, we do restrict service to members to a home address within a 20-mile radius of our operational center in Buckhead. See map below.



Who is eligible?

Anyone 21 or over with a valid license and clean driving record.

How do I receive my first vehicle?

Once accepted, your Clutch concierge will work with you to deliver your first vehicle. We recommend you reserve at least 30 minutes for your first delivery so we can answer any questions and show you the ropes. We will have you behind the wheel within a week.

What should I do with my old vehicle?

Many Clutch members choose to sell their old vehicles. Please see below for tips on selling your car.

Two recommended options:

  1. Marketplace or Dealer: Often, the easiest approach with minimal hassle is to let someone else sell for you. Consider:
    1. Autotrader Trade-In Marketplace
    2. Carmax
    3. Any authorized dealer
    4. A used car dealer - this can be a good option for cars older than 5 years
  2. Sell it yourself: A little more time consuming, but you could end up with a better deal overall
    1. Determining list price and sale price
      1. Market research – Autotrader, craigslist
      2. Valuation – KBB
    2. Negotiate Price and Finalize deal
    3. Documents Required – see form links below
      1. Title - Fill out the backside of the physical title
      2. Bill of Sale (Form T-7)
      3. Cancel registration
    4. You’re done!

What is the Clutch Joining Fee?

The Clutch Joining Fee is a one time charge for all new Clutch memberships. The fee is non-refundable.

Will you run a credit check after I apply?

We run a comprehensive screening that can take items into account such as credit and driving record.  The report does not have any impact on your credit.

Everyday Usage

How well equipped are the vehicles?

The majority of vehicles are equipped with a mid to high-end trim package. Most of our vehicles have leather seats. Other options vary by make/model and specific vehicle. We cannot guarantee the availability of certain options. And no, our classic cars don’t have satellite navigation or bluetooth!

Are pets allowed in vehicles?

We do allow pets in the vehicles but they must be transported in a crate.

Is satellite radio included?

No, however you can easily access your satellite radio account in any Clutch car using your satellite radio app and a bluetooth or cable connection.

What happens if my vehicle needs repair?

Our goal is that you will never have to worry about maintenance or repair issues. If something unforeseen occurs, use the Clutch app to notify us and we will get you back driving!

What happens if I get into an accident?

First, make sure that everyone is safe, get your vehicle to a safe place, exchange information with the other parties and notify the police. Once the situation is stabilized, call us at 404-975-1074. We will bring you a fresh vehicle and handle everything with respect to the vehicle involved in the incident. The SOS button on the top right of your app home screen has a list of what to report during an accident and other helpful information.

How much advance notice is required for a flip?

While there is no minimum notice required, the best experience is to book a few days in advance.

Booking a vacation?  Go ahead and book your flip too.

Need something this afternoon?  Don't stress, we will bring you the best option available.

Do I tip the concierge?

Clutch does not allow tipping. Concierge delivery is part of the overall Clutch member experience and included with the monthly subscription. If you have an exceptional Concierge experience feel free to reflect it in the service rating or by letting the team know. 

Pricing & Payment

Where can I find the insurance card?

View a digital version of your insurance card under the My Vehicle section of your Clutch app. Hard copies of the insurance card can also be found in the glovebox.

What about fuel?

All Clutch cars are delivered with a full tank of gas, and Clutch members are only responsible for the fuel they use. If you flip a vehicle without a full tank, your concierge will refill the vehicle and add the charge to your account following your flip. We never charge a fuel premium or convenience fee.

When is payment due?

A valid credit card is required during sign up. Your first payment will be charged when we confirm delivery of your first vehicle. Subsequent payments will be charged on a monthly basis, in advance. Any additional charges for gas or upgrades will be charged as soon as the flip ends.

What is the minimum commitment to drive Clutch?

Clutch is a monthly subscription service. Pay for the first 31 days and give it a try. If you like it, your subscription will renew automatically monthly after the first period. If you ever want to cancel, just let us know and we will end your subscription after your current month has expired.

Can I move between the different plans?

Yes, members can move between plans at any time. Your monthly subscription fee will be prorated. We require that members moving to a lower rated plan have been on their current plan for at least one month.

Can I pause my subscription?

Yes. Going out of town? Love Clutch but need a break?Just pause your Clutch account and have one less monthly bill covering something you're not even using. No lease or loan allows that!

Pause your Clutch account any number of days for a $200 convenience
fee. Then pick right back up where you left off for no additional
charge!

Terms of Use

Is there a mileage limit per month?

There is no mileage limit. Drive on!

Can anyone else drive the vehicle?

Yes, eligible drivers may be registered as Secondary Drivers and added to the member’s account.

Are members responsible for their Clutch car?

Yes, we expect our members to take care of Clutch vehicles as if they owned them. Please drive responsibly, keep your vehicle clean, and let us know of any minor dings or spills via the Clutch app.

What is the condition of Clutch vehicles?

Clutch is committed to delivering vehicles that are in excellent condition. To that end, we use technology to ensure that the vehicles are properly maintained and driven responsibly.

What data does Clutch collect?

We want to ensure the best service and safety for all of our members. To do so, we keep track of various data points to record vehicle and driver history. For more information on terms of use, please reference Clutch's Privacy Policy.
